Behavior Sticks
The sticks are the way we monitor our behavior. Each rule has a specific color. For example, the blue stick is for not working quietly. When students break a rule, I ask them to get the corresponding color stick and place it into the behavior chart in the pocket with their names.
The color code helps us to see what we need to work on behavior-wise. If there are several blue sticks in a particular child's pocket, then we know that he/she needs to work on being more quiet in the classroom.
Rules:
I will stay in my seat.
I will be kind (with my words and actions).
I will follow directions (the first time being told).
I will work quietly.
I will keep my hands, feet, and other objects to myself.
I will listen during lessons.
FOLDERS
The first thing the students are suppose to do when they enter the room is to empty their folders and put any notes, homework, etc. on the table. (Lunch money gets taken to the cafeteria immediately.)
After completing assignments, the students put the checked work into the "keep at home" side of their folders. At the end of the day, they get any extra papers/notes, from their cubby shelf and put them into their folders, as well.
